John Breen Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Breen, 76. A loving husband, father, and friend, John’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Known for his gentle spirit and unwavering strength, his life was a testament to hard work, perseverance, service and dedication to family. John was a proud Naval Seabee and served with honors in Vietnam. After military service, John spent over 50 years with IBEW Local 164, as an electrician. Active in the community, John was a lifetime member of the VFW, Commander of the American Legion Post 19 and a third degree knight of the Knights of Columbus Bayonne.
John is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Breen, who has been his pillar of support, companion, and guide throughout their 52 years together. His legacy will be carried forward by his children, John & Kathleen Breen, Katie & John Lockwood, Kevin & MaryAnne Breen and Patrick & Jennie Breen and his grandchildren Jack Breen, Riley Breen, Gwen Breen and Chloe Breen, each of whom he loved immensely. His legacy will continue to live on through them, passed down through the stories they share and the memories they hold close.
John is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Linda Breen, Irene Kostivich and Elizabeth Sokol and his close brother, Jack Reddington, and brother-in-law Michael Canu, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
His departure from this world brings him to a tranquil place where he reunites with his late sister, Elizabeth Lovett, brother, William Breen, and his parents, Catherine and William Breen, who preceded him in death. John’s radiant soul and ever-present kindness had the power to light up any room and will continue to illuminate their path in the hereafter.
John’s life was a testament to resilience, love, and enduring strength. His memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in his honor with the PTSD Foundation of America. Donations can be made online at https://everloved.com/life-of/john-breen/donate/. All proceeds will contribute towards providing help and support to veterans, a cause that was close to John’s heart.
