Final Salute

On Sunday, October 29, 2023, Jim Travis Talley, 77, of Austin sadly passed away at his home. Jim was loved very much and will be missed tremendously
Jim Travis Talley was born to Earl J. Talley and Ella Mae Talley on May 3, 1946 in Austin, Texas. In February 1966, Jim joined the Navy Seabees which is a department of the Navy that provided a wide range of construction in support of operating forces, including roads, bridges, and bunkers. He served four years and was also served time in Vietnam earning several medals and decorations. He returned to civilian life with excellent skills as a carpenter helping with renovations, remodeling, or with special projects.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl J. Talley and Ella Mae Talley; son, Justin Travis Talley; two brothers, John P. Talley, and Earl R. Talley.
Jim is survived by his son Kenneth (Kenny) Talley of Austin, Texas; daughter, Laura West of Grapevine, Texas, and two grandchildren, Monroe West, and Frank West, of Grapevine, Texas; sister,
Earlene L. Baker (Bruce) of Garland, Texas. He is also survived by a niece, nephew, and many cousins who loved him dearly.
A graveside services with military honors will be 12:00pm, Friday, November 3, 2023 at the
I.O.O. F Cemetery, 901 N. Main, Rockdale, TX 76567 with Pastor Matt Higginbotham officiating.
