Jerry Louis Libby, son of Joe Samuel Libby and Irene Laurie Libby, was born, February 21, 1936 in Camden County, Missouri. He departed this life, May 16, 2023, in Lake Parke Senior Living, in Camdenton, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, two months and twenty-five days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; his paternal grandparents, Ray and Lou Libby; his maternal grandparents, Louis and Lelah Laurie; his step-mother, Beaulah Libby and one nephew, Colin Bonicker.
He is survived by two sisters, Dixianne Steiner and husband Stephen of Henderson, Iowa and Kandi Henson and husband Rick of DeSoto, Missouri. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Jerry was raised in Camden County and was a graduate of Camdenton, High School. He attended Missouri University one year before moving to Pueblo, Colorado. While there he worked in the CF&I steel mill and became a journeyman Bricklayer. He was part of the CIO Union. Shortly after his schooling Jerry began his life time career as a journeyman Bricklayer as well as a stint as a steel mill worker in and was a park of CIO Union.
Jerry served two years as a Navy Seabee and spent most of the time on the island of Guam rebuilding it after a hurricane. While on the island he was a member of the golf, softball and basketball teams. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Camdenton and started his career as a brick mason. His work as a bricklayer was exceptional and Jerry took a lot of pride in his work.
Jerry made a profession of faith and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Camdenton.
In his spare time, you could always find Jerry enjoying music as he was an avid guitar player. If not listening or performing music Jerry loved to fish, hunt and play a good game of golf as a member of the Lake Valley Golf Club. Jerry stayed active in his community as well. He was a member of the Jaycees, as well as serving as the Vice President of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce.
He was a loving and a caring son, grandson, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday, May 22, 2023 in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:00a.m. until time of service, Monday, May 22, 2023 in the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in the Big Niangua Cemetery in Roach, Missouri.
Memorial donations may be made to the Big Niangua Cemetery in Roach, Missouri and left at the funeral home.
