Final Salute

Jay “Scott” Thurston was born on October 19th, 1954, to Jim and Virginia Thurston in Vancouver, Washington. Jay passed away February 7th, 2026, at his home in Bulington. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters, Terry, Debbie, Kim and Linda.  Jay  is survived by his wife Gloria Vaara, sister Pam Evans, son Jeremy and Jen Thurston, daughter Becky Tjeerdsma, 3 grandsons Cash, Crew Tjeerdsma and McClain Thurston one granddaughter Lowyn Lacey, many nieces, nephews and so many wonderful friends. He attended Mount Vernon schools. He also served in the United States Navy as a Seabee.  A celebration of life will be held Friday February 27th, 2026, at Hawthorne Reception Room, 1825 E college way Mount Vernon from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
