James Raymond Martin, 85, of Princeton passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at the Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville. He was born May 18, 1938 to Carl and Flora (Knapp) Martin.
Jim was retired, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator for G.J. Rode Construction for many years. He served in the Navy Seabees, stationed in Cuba during the Cuba Missile Crisis. He had lived in Princeton since 1965 moving there from Haubstadt. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, going to Barkley Lake, hunting, and spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy Martin of Princeton, to whom he married May 8, 1965; also surviving a son, Eric James Martin of Mt, Olympus; 4 granddaughters, Karen Martin St. Clair (Trevor) of Evansville, Theresa Martin of Princeton, Sarah Blumenstock (Kenny) of Princeton, and Elizabeth Martin of Princeton; 4 great grandchildren, Shawn, Zoey, Bruce, and Charlette; sisters, Pat Davis of Evansville and Annlee Botzum (Edward) of Haubstadt; brothers, Gene Martin (Phyllis) of St. Wendel, Jerry Martin of Ft. Branch, and Alvin Martin of Elberfeld; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary Rose, Melvin, Bob, Donald, Virgil, Neal and Imelda.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Princeton with Fr. Ted Temple and Fr. Gary Kaiser serving as Celebrants. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Princeton. There will be no public visitation. Retired Military Veterans will provide a military graveside service. The Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton has been entrusted with the arrangements.
