James E. Kerber, 97, of Sarasota, Florida, and formerly of Columbus and Sandusky, died Tuesday, July, 19, 2022.
He was born July 1, 1925, in Sandusky.
He was a graduate of Sandusky High School. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University, Master’s Degree from Bowling Green State University, and a Doctorate Degree from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
Early in his career, he taught at Monroe Elementary in Sandusky. He was a Professor of Education at The Ohio State University for 22 years. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Seabee veteran.
He is survived by three sons, Daniel (Sheila) of The Villages, Florida, Steven (Phyllis) of Dublin, Ohio, and Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters, Barbara of Sarasota, Florida, and Gayle (Todd) Ewers of Powell, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl (Neita) Kerber; stepmother, Eva (Behrens) Kerber; wife of 53 years, Donna (Hohler); daughter, Nancy (Jim Baker) of Arlington, Texas; and other relatives of the Hohler, Singler, Baumeister, Fuller, and Kerber families.
A memorial service will be at a later date in Sandusky.
