James Archie Feltis, 87, of Marietta, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home. He was born on June 23, 1937, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, to the late Vern William and Margaret Evelyn Hope Feltis.
Jim was a graduate of Sault Ste. Marie Area High School. He served his country in the United States Navy, where he was part of the US Mobile Construction Battalion Three, which is known as the Seabees, from 1955 to 1959. Jim was a truck driver for Clairmont Transfer Company, where he retired from. He was a member of the Teamsters, VFW Post 5108, American Legion Post #64, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Elks in Marietta. Jim loved spending time in the garage tinkering on anything and everything, was into antique cars and car shows, and he and his son restored a 1947 Ford. He liked to hunt, fish and spend time outdoors. Jim also enjoyed traveling on vacation with family and friends, especially to the beach.
He is survived by his two children, Aedan James (Dahe Good) of Oregon and Jason Feltis (Amber) of West Virginia; four grandchildren, Logan, Wyatt, Hunter and Maelyn; two brothers, Bill Feltis (Shirley) of Michigan and Roy Feltis (Linda) of Virginia; brothers and sisters in law, Brian & Lucy Roberts of Michigan and Tom & Mia Holscher of Colorado; longtime companion, Shirley Hockenberry, of Whipple, and her children, Dan & Brenda Waterman of Whipple, Rick & Christy Hockenberry of Lowell and Robert & Anna Hockenberry of Parkersburg; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Roberts Feltis; son, James “Jimmy” Feltis; two daughters, Marie Hope and Toni Lynn Feltis; and two sisters, Bernice “Sis” Forgette and June Benoit.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, at THE MARIETTA CHAPEL OF CAWLEY & PEOPLES FUNERAL HOME, with The Rev. Mariesa McCloud officiating. Family will greet friends for two hours prior to services. Full military honors will be observed at the VFW in Marietta during a reception following the services.
