JAMES ALBERT PEFFLEY James Albert Peffley, 86, passed away February 25, 2023 at William R Courtney Texas State Veteran’s Home in Temple, Texas. Jim was born on August 13, 1936 to Paul Peffley and Edwina (McIntosh) Peffley in Augusta, Kansas. In 1954, he graduated from El Dorado High School in Kansas as a proud member of the Wildcat family. He served in the U.S. Navy as a SeaBee in Okinawa, Japan and Midway Islands. Returning home, Jim worked briefly as a Butler County Deputy Sheriff and other occupations. However, the emerging field of computer science captured his interest and was a match for his intellect and attention to detail. He went on to be a part of various industry innovations in data processing including the development of Virtual Machine. Before retirement, he had contributed to many corporate teams including Sun Oil, Anderson Consulting and Perot Systems. Jim met the love of his life, Carmen Moyano Centeno, as she was completing her Fulbright Program teaching scholarship in El Dorado, Kansas. When Carmen returned to Argentina, Jim followed shortly after and they were married in 1965 at Nuestra Senora de los Milagros (Jesuitas) in Santa Fe, Argentina. Jim and Carmen returned to the United States and eventually settled in Richardson, Texas where they resided for 46 years. During the summer of 2020, they moved to Belton, Texas to be closer to family. Jim loved fishing, reading and traveling. He gave his technical skills to the Centro Argentino as music coordinator and occasional dancer with the Danzas Folkloricas productions. The life and legacy of Jim Peffley is lovingly cherished by his wife of 57 years, Carmen. He is survived by their son, Nicholas Lewis Peffley and his wife Nicole Peffley of Houston, Texas and by their daughter, Suzanne Peffley Rowe and her husband Russell Rowe of Belton, Texas. Jim’s laughter and especially his jokes will be missed by his five granddaughters. He is also survived by his sisters Barbara (Peffley) Feller of Houston, Texas and Margie Peffley of Wichita, Kansas and six nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the veteran community as well as the nurses and care teams of both Stoney Brook of Belton and William R Courtney Texas State Veteran’s Home. Memorial services are pending. In lieu of flowers, gifts would appreciated in Jim’s name to The Parkinson’s Voice Project 646 North Coit Road #2250 Richardson, Texas 75080.
