James Albert Harrier, 76, of Bald Eagle died Friday, May 26, 2023 at the James E. Van Zandt Vets Hospital, Altoona. He was born April 1, 1947 in Altoona, the son of the late Robert Irvin and Martha Marie (Shields) Harrier. He was married Feb. 14, 1998 to Roseanne Lowry, who survives after 25 years of marriage. Also survived by step-daughters Melissa C. (Daniel) Workman of Pleasant Gap, Deborah Grubb and the late Charles of Millheim, and Tracey (Ronald “Dale” Gardner) of Tyrone. There are 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Tyrone High School in 1965 and was a member of the Bald Eagle Methodist Church. He served for 13 years as a U.S. Navy SeaBee during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged July 31, 1979. He was a longtime bus driver for Fullington Trailways Bus Co. He loved all animals.
Friends will be received at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 10 a.m. to the funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Jeffrey D. Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Bald Eagle Cemetery. Contributions in his memory may be made to Nittany Beagle Rescue in State College or to the Second Chance Strays in Altoona.
