Mr. Jack R. Sattler

Date of birth 07/14/1947
Date of passing 11/01/2025

Jack R. Sattler, age 78, of Westlake, Ohio passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born July 14, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents John and Dorothea (nee Creighton) Sattler.

Jack grew up in Fairview Park and was a 1965 graduate of Fairview High School. He attended some classes at both Cuyahoga County Community College and Kent State University, but the school of hard knocks and real life taught him more. Jack enlisted in the US Navy in May 1966 and proudly served four years during the Vietnam War. He was a decorated service member of the Construction Battalion, better known as a Seabee. To serve his country Jack had to leave his sweetheart, Peggie Martell, and he returned to Cleveland and her following his discharge. They married and spent 54 years together raising their family.

Jack’s career was wide and varied, beginning with the railroad. He later found himself in the world of fuel tanks, first as a reseller and eventually as a manufacturer having made innovations of his own to the process. Jack enjoyed spending time fishing and golfing when not at work and was an avid baseball fan, not only playing and spectating, but also coaching his sons. He also gave many hours of his time to others in sponsorship and mentoring after finding his own sobriety with the dedicated help of others.

Jack is survived by his loving sons Wes (Carla) Sattler and Colby Sattler (Beth Wencil); cherished grandchildren of Ethan, Reece, Harrison, Harper, Josie and Hannah; dear siblings and siblings-in-law Gary (Debbie) Sattler, Judy (John) Gorsek, Terry (Marilyn) Martell, Sharon (Bob) Hitt, and Margie Whetsell. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggie J. Sattler on May 3, 2025; parents; and brother Denny Sattler.
