Jack A. Combs Obituary
Jack A. Combs, 75, of Marshall died suddenly on Friday October 2, 2015 from injuries sustained in an accident.
Jack was born on Friday October 13, 1939 in Albion to Harry and Hazel (Rarick) Combs. He graduated from Tekonsha High School in 1959.
He served two years in the Navy with the Seabees.
On July 29, 1960, he married Rosalie C. Jones in Marshall. This year they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a celebration with family and friends.
Jack worked for 30 years for the Kellogg Company on second shift in the processing department until he retired in 1996.
He was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club and a former member of the Marshall Moose Lodge #676.
Jack enjoyed traveling out west with his family and some of his favorite locations were Moab, Utah, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Yosemite National Park. In addition Jack enjoyed camping and spending many summers at Tri-Lake-Trails where he would have weekly family cookouts. He also enjoyed watching the Detroit Red Wings and Nascar. Some of Jack’s favorite past times were attending dances at the Fredonia Grange, Burnside Center in Coldwater, and Mosherville. Jack owned two classic cars, a 57′ Ford Fairlane and a 62′ Ford Galaxy Convertible, which he enjoyed taking to local car shows and cruising around with Rosie. Most every morning he could be found at Marshall McDonald’s with the “McDonald’s Mafia” gossiping about the previous days events.
Beside his wife Rosie and daughter Kathy the love of his life was his “damn cats” which he shared many naps in a recliner with.He is survived by his wife Rosalie of Marshall and daughter Kathy (Steve Neitzka) of Marshall.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Kenneth Combs in 2011 along with many “fur-babies”.Jack’s mischievous sense of humor, memorable laugh and ever present toothpick will be missed at the Combs’ family gatherings by Uncle Don (Carol) Combs, Uncle Doyle (Ruth Wilson), along with all of his cousins.
Visitation will take place on October 10, 2015 at Craig Kempf Funeral Home, Marshall MI 1-7pm with family present to greet friends from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. A memorial service celebrating his life will take place at 2pm on Sunday October 11, 2015 at the Marshall United Methodist Church, 721 Old US 27 North with Mr. Larry Prince officiating.
Family requests memorial contributions to the Calhoun County Relay for Life East or to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. Assistance with memorials is available at the Kempf Family Funeral Home.
