Ivan Mac Sooy, passed away peacefully at his residence and went to his heavenly home on December 2, 2024. He was born on November 29, 1941 in Plainwell, MI, the son of Arthur L. and Greta Cram Sooy. As a young man he joined US Navy Seabees and traveled extensively. Mac retired from Flowserve, formerly “Durametallic”. He loved being active with fishing, hunting, traveling to Montana, gardening, tractors and a love for beagles.

Mac’s smile and laughter will be dearly missed by his wife of 29 years Paula (Pinks); step daughter Amy (Jeff) Haight of Shelbyville; two sisters: Ruby Robart of Lansing, Ginger Bish of North Carolina; a special hunting partner and nephew, Steve Pencola of Howell; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren (Mac loved his grandchildren dearly!); and he had numerous nieces and nephews. Mac was preceded in death by his parents; his son Ivan Mac Jr., brothers: James, Arlyn “Bob”, Arthur Jr.; sister: Myrtle Pencola.

Relatives and friends may meet with Ivan‘s family on Thursday, December 5 from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at the Williams Gores Funeral Home where a funeral service will take place at 10 AM. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 45. In lieu of flowers please consider the needs of the family.
