Herbert Henri Damman, 91, of Naples, Florida, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024.
Herb was born in New York City on October 10, 1932, a son of the late Henri and Agnes Damman. He graduated from Cartaret Prep School and continued on to receive a Bachelors of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1954.
Herb proudly served his country as an officer in the US Navy Seabees. After his military service, Herb worked as a civil engineer for Manitowoc and Bucyrus Erie, and then started his own business, Depco Equipment, in Detroit, Michigan. Herb was very handy, spending many hours in his woodworking shop – he even built his own sailboat. Later in life, Herb took up golf, spending many enjoyable hours on the courses at Edgewood Country Club (Michigan) and Bonita Bay (Florida). Herb was also active with the Orchard Lake United Methodist Church and Habitat For Humanity.
Herb married Jean Wrisley on July 1, 1961; they were married 61 years (her death).
Herb is survived by his brother George and sister-in-law Kathe (Florida), sons Scott (Florida) and James (Colorado), daughter Julie and son-in-law Jeff (Michigan), grandson John (New York), granddaughter Lauren (Michigan), niece Eileen (Florida) and nephew Skip (Florida).
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at Michaeljfox.org. The family of Herb wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Bentley Care Center and the Assisted Living Residence.
