Final Salute

Harvey James Evans, age 89, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on August 14, 2024. He was born in Gary, Indiana, on September 26, 1934. Harvey attended Holy Angels Catholic School from 1940 – 1948 and W.A. Wirt High School from 1948 – 1952. He married Carol Anne Joganic on October 8, 1955. Harvey and Carol had four children and raised their family in Merrillville, Indiana. He served with honor in the U.S. Navy Seabees. Harvey was a proud lifetime member of Operating Engineers Local No. 150 and was a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed fishing and antiquing. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey W. and Agnes (nee Fehrenbacher) Evans; daughter, Laurell Kinsey; and son-in-law, Jens Rasmussen; siblings: Lynn, Joanne and Carol. He is survived by his wife, Carol Anne; daughter, Joyce Rasmussen; sons: Tedd (Lexa) Evans and Dan (Linda) Evans; son-in-law, Kenny Kinsey; grandchildren: Erik Rasmussen, Katrina Rasmussen, David Evans, Nathan Evans, Sean Kinsey, Samone Kinsey, Olivia Evans, Abby Evans; and 5 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home & Crematory, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point, IN. A private graveside service will take place with Rev.
