Final Salute

Harris Joplin, Jr., age 103, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on March 10, 2026.

Harris was born on February 24, 1923, in Wylie, Texas. He married Juanita Smith in 1942, and they were married for over 74 years. In 1942 Harris joined the U. S. Navy Seabee 77th Construction Battalion and served in the Pacific for 27 months. He was awarded 4 bronze stars.

After the war, Harris went to work for Lone Star Cadillac and became a new car salesman. In 1971, he began working for Rodger Meier Cadillac, until retiring in 1995. He was a lifetime member of the Cadillac Crest Club.

He is survived by his son, Ronald Joplin and wife Jane of Athens, Texas; sister, Mae Frances Lockhart of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Harris is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Joplin; and daughter, Kathy Dooley.

Visitation will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228, on March 16, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
