Mr. Harold Dwyane Algee

Harold Dwayne Algee, 95, passed peacefully on October 13, 2024. He was born August 28,1929 in Carroll County, Tennessee to Randall Bee Algee and Cora Lee Bell Algee Massey.

Harold “Bo” lived his early years in Tennessee before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and was proud of being a Navy Seabee. He was stationed in Adak in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska and completed his high school diploma there. He was later stationed in Saipan and Yokosuka, Japan.

He returned home from the Navy and attended Ouachita Baptist University on a baseball scholarship where he completed his Bachelor of Arts in Education. He began teaching and completed his Master of Science in Education from the University of Central Arkansas and his Doctor of Education from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

Harold married Ann Scott in 1965, and they had a wonderful life together. They traveled to all fifty states. Their love and devotion to each other was evident in everything they did. He has been looking forward to their reunion in Heaven.

Harold served as a history teacher, Principal, and Superintendent in school districts throughout Arkansas, including Little Rock, North Little Rock, Mountain View, Greenland, Gould, Cross County, and Cutter Morning Star. He loved his students and dedicated his life to working with young people. He was proud to work with Hillary Clinton to improve the education system in Arkansas.

He remained active in sports throughout his life, continuing to play recreational baseball after college. He played basketball into his 80‘s and competed in the Senior Olympics 4 times, winning 3 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. He played golf into his 90’s and treasured his golfing buddies at the Hot Springs Country Club.

Harold had a great love for Jesus and lived his life for the Lord. He was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs, where he taught Sunday School for many years.

Harold was a dedicated husband, father, Bo-Daddy, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him. He lived an interesting life with many stories that he loved to share.

Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Ann, his parents, his stepfather, Benjamin Massey, sister, Virginia Dancy, sister, Bernice Algee, brother, Frankie B. Algee, and cousin, Jere Johnson, who was like a brother to him.

He is survived by his children DeVonne Hefner (Preston) of Fairfield Bay, Randall Algee (Karen) of Fairfield Bay, Paul Algee (Lyndsey) of Fayetteville, and Carrie Nelson (Donald) of Rincon, Georgia. Four grandchildren, Zach Noel Algee, Braydon Beau Nelson, Claire Ann Nelson, and Adelaide Victoria Belle Algee. And many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs on Monday, November 25 at 11 A.M. preceded by visitation beginning at 10 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to The Caring Place of Hot Springs.
