Final Salute

Gordon Buchanan passed away October 8th, 2023, in his 85th year. He was born September 21, 1938 to the late Margaret Buchanan in Queens, New York. During his childhood, he was raised by Aunt Kitty. He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He continued on in The Navy Seabees for many years. He married in 1961 to Isabella Buchanan who he loved and cared for until her passing in 2008. He retired in 1985 from New York City Sanitation and from Calverton National Cemetery. He was blessed to have found love again with Maureen, which he admired until her passing in 2018. Together they shared a love of traveling and cruising. He was a tortured Mets fan as well as a Giants fan GO BLUE! Loving father to Frankie, Johnny, and Theresa. Devoted brother to Kathleen and the late Douglas. Dear grandfather to Christopher, Alexandria, Tyler, Nicole (Josh), Louie Jr., Giana, Maureen (Bobby), Leanne and Michael. Cherished great-grandfather to Mila. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Gordon to Smile Train or The Special Olympics.
