Glen Bare, age 85, of Elizabethton, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at James H. Quillen Veteran’s Administration Medical Center Hospital. Glen was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee to the late Johnny Bare, Sr. and Ruby Robinson Bare. In addition to his parents, Glen was also preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Jack Bare and Johnny Bare, Jr.; sister, Betty Roberts; grandson, Jacob Bare; great granddaughter, Emma Grace Denny.
Glen was a member of Zion Baptist Church and a member of the Carter County Car Club, where he was able so show his passion for old cars. In his spare time, Glen could be found working on old cars and restoring them to their former beauty. Glen loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Vietnam Era as part of the Seabees.
Those left to cherish Glen’s memory include his wife, Brenda Bare, of the home; children: Lisa Denny (Chris), of Louisville, TN, Scott Bare (Lori), of Elizabethton, Gary Bare (Missy), of Elizabethton; grandchildren: Mark, Tosha, Corey and Megan; great grandchildren, Madison, Lucas, Madelyne, Emmett, Carson, Ella Kate and Keira; brother, Ray Bare (Glenda); sister, Linda Odom (Eddie); brothers-in-law, Micky Mathis (Deborah) and Barry Mathis (Kay); sister-in-law, Penny Fenner (Billy); special friend, Emery Cordell; cousin, Larry Bare; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of Glen’s life will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home of Elizabethton with Dr. Alan King officiating. Music will be under the direction of Emory Cordell and Becky Mynatt. The family will receive friends between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM in the funeral home chapel prior to the service on Tuesday. The family will also receive friends at the residence at any time.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be grandsons: Mark Denny, Max Linke, Corey Bare, Jordon VanHoy; brothers-in-law, Micky Mathis and Barry Mathis. Military Honors will be accorded by the DAV Chapter 39 Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to at the cemetery no later than 10:50 AM.
