LeROY – Gerald Herman Beauchamp, 76, of LeRoy died Friday, January 19, 2024.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Diane of LeRoy; son, Darren (Amy) Beauchamp of Minneola, FL; daughter, Denise (John) Garee of LeRoy; grandchildren: Nick and Ty Beauchamp and Matt and Katie Garee; sisters: Pam Woodson and Pat (Rick) Collier. He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and three brother-in-laws: Danny, Denny and Gary.

Jerry was born September 30, 1947 to Elias Herman and Mary (Spann) Beauchamp in Pensacola, FL, growing up with his two cherished sisters: Pam and Pat mostly in Jacksonville, FL and graduating from Nathan Bedford Forrest High School.

After high school he was in the Navy Seabees and did two tours in Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he saw a picture of his fellow soldier and friend, Dennis Simpsen’s sister from IL. He thought she was beautiful and asked if he could write her and that was the beginning of a 50 plus year love story between he and the love of his life his wife, Diane who he married on January 4, 1969 and who was by his side for the rest of his life.

They built a family that meant everything to him first with their children: Darren and Denise and then the grandchildren: Nick, Matt, Katie and Ty. He was so proud of all of them.

Jerry was a mechanic and had a wealth of knowledge on cars but also could fix about anything. He was a talented woodworker, making many beautiful pieces. His love language was using these skills to help his family by helping with countless home repairs, projects and car problems. He worked as a mechanic and later Service Manager, retiring from Sam Leman.

Outside of work he loved fishing and gardening. He had a very strong faith in God throughout his life and was a founding member of Faith Lutheran Church in LeRoy and later belonged to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington.

His services will be on Friday, January 26, 2024 at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in LeRoy with visitation from 4:00-6:00 p.m. and memorial service beginning at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Lyn A’hearn officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Anchor, IL.

Memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center in Normal, IL.
