Jerry was born in Lewisville, Texas to Ralph and Mary Millican on November 26, 1931. He was a 1950 graduate of Lewisville High School. He married the love of his life, Darlene Silk on December 24, 1951 in Rockwall, Texas.
In March 1951 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.He served in the Seabee’s as an equipment operator. His first duty station was Alameda NAS, CA followed by service in Korea & Japan. After discharge from the Navy, he worked for his Dad at Lewisville Electric Shop until he was hired as one of the first two mail carriers in Lewisville in 1957, following in the footsteps of his Dad and uncle. He then worked for W.J. Thomas Construction Company where he could put his talents and love of working with heavy machinery to good use as a crane operator. In 1960, he started working for Dallas Power & Light, retiring in 1986.
He loved the outdoors and could always be found on his beloved tractor, handed down by his Dad, or sitting by a roaring fire, no matter the temperature outside. If you needed something done, he handled it in record time. He could repair anything, loved a good project, and was always willing to lend a hand. He loved pulling his trailers and traveling. He and Darlene traveled to every state in the US as well as Germany, Australia and New Zealand. They enjoyed Bluegrass festivals and spending time with their friends. Some of their best memories were vacationing on the Cossatot River in Arkansas with James, Ollie, Candy and Lisa Pike.
