Gerald Dwayne Sundell – Born April 3, 1947 in Moscow Idaho to Estill and Lucy Sundell passed away on October 20, 2025 at the Veterans Home of North Idaho surrounded by family.
Jerry married the love of his life, Vickie Raybell, on June 18, 1966 and they have been married for 59 years. Jerry was a Logger, a Dairyman and most importantly, a Hockey Trainer. His love of hockey was unfounded and his “Hockey Boys” were his world. Two of which were at his bedside when he passed, Mike Burdick and Danny Holden. Jerry was a hockey trainer for the Spokane Flames, the Spokane Braves, the Liberty Lake Lumber Jacks and the Great Falls Americans. He became the coaching director for the Spokane Americans Youth Hockey Association when his grandson Nick was just 5 years old and playing hockey for the first time.
Jerry was proud to be a retired Navy Seabee and served in Vietnam, helping to construct the military airport on his base.
Jerry is survived by his amazing wife, Vickie Sundell who took pride in caring for him for many, many years and would have it no other way. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Linnemeyer, son Bryan Sundell (Tammy), and daughters Leasa Bolen (Shad) and Karrie Thomson (Mike Burdick), 5 very special grandchildren Brittany (Will), Alli (Travis) , Nick (Melissa), Tyler (Madilynn) and Dylan and 3 cherished great grandchildren, Charlie, Chase and Emery, three step grandchildren, Cassie (Brandon), Amber (Jessie) and Ej as well as three step grandchildren, Elijah, Hartly and Naomi and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Estill and Lucy, his brother-in-law Max Linnemeyer and his beloved grandson Monte Thomson.
Jerry’s funeral will be November 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at Hennessey Funeral Home and Crematory located at 1315 N Pines Rd, Spokane Valley, WA 99206 with a reception to follow at the Event Center located at 22302 E Country Vista Dr., Liberty Lake WA from 1:00 pm to 3:30 PM.
A private ceremony will be held at the Veterans Cemetery on Monday November, 3 2025 at 1:00 PM
