George F. Smith Obituary

George F. Smith, 88, of Elyria, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020.

George was a proud United States Navy Seabee, Korean Conflict Veteran. He was also a longtime member of the Salvation Army, serving Christ in that capacity for many years.

He was the beloved husband of Brenda (nee Reaser) for 36 blessed years; loving father of Bonnie Freeh (David), Dottie Hammond (Ron), John Frymier (Chrissy) and Penny Romantic (Tom); devoted grandfather of Nicole Freeh (Joe), Stacey Zerante (Ryan), Andrea Barrett (Nick), Kelly Breunig (Erik), Corinna DeLucia (Mike), Austin Romantic, Rina Mang (Alexander), Nadia Taylor, Tony Taylor (Melissa), Debbie Wilson (Michael), Jeremiah Frymier, Valencia Frymier, Matthew Faber, Luke Faber (Emily) and great-grandfather of Nah’Shiya Higgins, Lakota Faber, Samara Ezell, Sarina Ezell, Devin Holder, Anastaia Wilson, Aadon Taylor, Ava Breunig, Jakob Breunig, Alivia Wilson, Vincent Zerante, Alexandra Mang and Adriana Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Roy Schmidt and parents, George and Lenora Schmidt.

A funeral service will be held at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria, (440) 322-3717 on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

George’s urn will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville at a later date.
