George A. Ritter, 86, died June 27, 2022 peacefully at his home.
He was born in Newark, NJ, September 1, 1935, son of George A. and Leona (Juengling) Ritter Sr.
George was a 1971 graduate of the University of Hartford and a 1975 graduate of Birmingham School of Law.
He was the founder and President of Knight Kitchens in North Clarendon, VT.
George was a US Navy Seabee Veteran during the Korean War..
He married Judith A. Smith on September 6, 1958 in Verona, NJ.
He and his wife were residents of Rutland Town and St. Croix, USVI. He was a member of the Carambola Country Club in St. Croix. George was a member of the Proctor Pittsford Country Club. They loved boating on their boat in St. Croix, ‘The Judy II’, where they boated throughout the Caribbean Islands. He enjoyed traveling. He and Judy also loved traveling and visited more than 38 countries throughout the world.
Surviving are his wife, Judith A. Ritter of Rutland Town; 3 sons, George P. Ritter (Anni Ritter) of Chittenden, Eric P. Ritter (Tracy Smith) of No. Clarendon and Gregg T. Ritter (Carolyn Bird) of Portland, ME; 8 grandchildren; Ryan, Connor, Karina, Erin, Cecilia, Alex, Liam, and Owen Ritter; his beloved dog, Penney. He was very proud of all his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marie Sharkey and his daughter in law, Lisa Kelley Ritter in 2015.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He was a true knight in all our eyes.
Calling hours will be held from 1 to 3 PM in the Clifford Funeral Home on Saturday July 9, 2022.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Rutland County Humane Society.
