Gary Glen Rankin, age 74 of Perryville, passed away January 25, 2022. He was born in Perryville, Ark., on March 27, 1947, to RL “Cookie” and Lenora “Pete” Sloss Rankin, and is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Kathy Crowson; son, Cody Charles (wife Jennifer); daughter Joanna; and sister, ReGina Clay. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James, Daniel, and his twin brother, Larry.
After graduating from Perryville High School, Gary served his country as a Navy Seabee in Vietnam. He was a Union Ironworker by trade and retired from the Arkansas Gazette in Little Rock.
Gary enjoyed fishing, traveling, and outdoor adventures with his family. He was an avid history buff, especially Western American events. As a devoted husband, father, and brother, Gary was loved and admired by many as a good man, a second dad, friend, and anchor of strength.
Gary wished to be cremated and was adamant that a celebration of life be planned for friends and family instead of a funeral. Arrangements are made by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Online Guestbook: www.harrisfuneralhomes.net
Fisherman’s Prayer
I pray that I may live to fish
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray:
When in the Lord’s great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
