GARY DENNIS MULLINS, age 71 of the Panther Ridge Road section of Grundy, Virginia, rode his Harley to Heaven on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Born September 5, 1952, in McDowell County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ira Mullins and Audra Hurley Mullins.
Dennis served in the US Navy Seabees and Army Reserves and was called to Desert Storm and Desert Shield. He also served in Iraq, the Gulf War and Operation Freedom. He was last employed by the Virginia Department ofTransportation. Dennis was a talented man. He was a certified contractor, electrician, blaster, and diesel mechanic. One of Dennis’s favorite hobbies was woodworking. He has built many projects for his family and friends. He enjoyed his time as a Blackey Baptist Christ Builders member, helping build ramps for his community.
Dennis was a devoted Christian. He attended the Blackey Baptist, Blackey Church of Christ, and the Barn Service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Audie Mullins; sisters-in-law, Stormy Mullins and Debbie Wolford; brothers-in-law, William Ramey, Jessie Looney, Darriel Looney, and James Long.
Survivors include, his wife of 26 years, Betty Mullins of Grundy, Virginia; daughters, Ginger Mullins and fiancé Henry Krull of PineyFlats, Tennessee, Sandi Lawson of Iaeger, West Virginia, Marsha Mullins of Iaeger, West Virginia, Justina Ealy and husband Rob of Scott Depot, West Virginia, Kim Kyle and husband Brian of Vansant, Virginia, Amy Stacy and husband Kevin of Maxie, Virginia; son, Bradley Mullins and wife Marcela of Blountville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Ali Fletcher and husband Joseph, Chelsea Davis and husband Jamie, Zoey Kyle, Jack Stacy and fiancé Allie Vanover, Cadie Stacy, Loni Stacy, Kristin Lawson, Bryce Lawson, Tristan Mullins, Ryland, Ealy, Reagan Ealy, Abigail Mullins, Jasmine Mullins, Ty Mullins, and Bradley Mullins, Jr.; One Great-Grandson, Hudson Stacy due in November. He is also survived by special sisters-in-law, Jearlene Belcher and husband Paul, Gay Ramey, and Selma Long.
Dennis was a loving husband, father, friend, and honestly, the best Popaw anyone could have. We will love and miss him forever.
Funeral services for Dennis Mullins were held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, 7:00 p.m. at the Virginia Funeral Home Chapel, Grundy, Virginia, with Eugene Whited and Truitt Blankenship officiating. The family received friends at 6:00 p.m.
Military graveside rites were conducted at the Dennis Mullins Cemetery, near his home on Panther Ridge Road, on Monday, September 18, 2023, 2:00 p.m., with burial to follow.
Serving as pallbearers were family and friends.
