Mr. Frederick Wyman French

Frederick Wyman French, 68, of Witherbee, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2024, at Elizabethtown Hospital with family. Born in Ticonderoga, August 4, 1956, he was the son of the late Louis and Nieta (Swinton) French. He grew up in Stoney Lonesome in Crown Point. He graduated from Crown Point Central School in 1974. He joined the Navy in 1976. He was proud to be a Seabee. How fitting he passed away on Veteran’s Day. After leaving the Navy in 1981 he met his future wife, Jacqueline Yules, from Brooklyn, when he moved back to Crown Point and lived at her family’s summer camp, Champlain Shores. Married March 29, 1985 they resided in Brooklyn where Fred did copper work in NYC and the surrounding boroughs. He was also a talented carpenter and owner of French Contracting. Fred loved playing soccer in high school, the New York Yankees, the Dallas Cowboys, fishing and hunting with his sons and brother. He was predeceased by his parents, wife Jacqueline in 2004, sister Wanda Woodard, nephews John Woodard Jr and Jason Woodard and father-in-law Herbert Yules. Survivors include his sons, Adam (Elle) and Holden French; brother, Louis French Jr; sisters, Tammy O’Hara and Barbara Stowell (Dennis); nieces, Bridget Charboneau, Yve Elowyn and Rachel Mallette (David); nephews, Nathan Stowell (Lindsay) and Brandon Charboneau; great nephews, John Woodard III, Ethan Barber; great nieces, Kiera Fuller, Arianna Fuller, Abigail Barber; Aunt Adeline Blanchard; Mother-in-law, Diane Yules; sister-in-law, Stephanie Yules; aunt-in-law, Tina Kaplan; brother-in-law, John Woodard Sr; many cousins; best friend and cousin, Sam Meachem; longtime friend, Dale Groshans; and his die-hard Seabee buddies, Jeff Smyser and Walter McNeil. A military funeral will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16th at 1:00 pm at White Church Cemetery in Crown Point. In lieu of flowers, Fred asks for donations to be made to Veterans Affairs.
