Fred Paschal Wilborn, Jr. CHARLESTON – Fred Paschal Wilborn, Jr., 77, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Friday, February 16, 2024. Paschal was born March 4, 1946, in Montgomery, Alabama, son of the late Fred Paschal Wilborn Sr. and Frances Smith Wilborn. Paschal was a graduate of St. Andrews Parish High School and went on to attend The Citadel, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 1972. Paschal proudly joined the Navy Seabees and was a Commanding Officer E3 during the Vietnam war. For 30 years of his life, Paschal was a teacher, coach, and mentor. He was a board member of the Bethlehem Center, a founding member of Our Risen Savior Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree). Paschal was the Charter President of the Westside Rotary Club in Spartanburg, SC. During his career, he was a Human Resources Manager for Milliken, Reeves Brothers and Standard Products. Paschal spent his life on the backwaters of Charleston, SC, where he enjoyed blue crabbing and fishing during his downtime especially when it was with his family. If you couldn’t find him on the backwaters, you would find him on the basketball court. Spending time with his family was his favorite pastime. He is survived by his two beloved daughters, Elizabeth Wilborn Rowell (Reed) and Mamie Kathryn Rudy (Shaun). Paschal is also survived by his grandchildren, Darren Rudy, Melissa Rudy, Keaton Rowell and Landon Rowell. Paschal leaves behind his sisters, Mary Daniel, Angie Decker, Rebecca Wilborn; and a brother, David Wilborn. Additionally, Paschal leaves behind his nieces and nephews, Laura Elder, John Holly, Madeline Holly-Sales, Shannon Bowman, Noelle Morgan, Frances Baker, Verna Kale, Katie Cecere, Clayton Kale, Marianna Carr, Rachel Crabtree, Teresa Anderson, Christopher Klim, John Holler, Hughes Holler, Granvul Wilborn, and Paschal Wilborn; as well as his spouse of seven months, Merritt Margaret Wilborn. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandra Joy Wilborn, Deborah Wilborn Graham and a nephew, Matthew Ellis. His memorial service will be held Sunday, February 25, 2024, in the J. Henry Stuhr Mt. Pleasant Chapel at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2:00 pm in the Mt.
