Franklin L. Hoskin Obituary

Franklin L. Hoskin, 84, formerly of Hillsboro, died May 24, 2020, at Mercy Hospital South in south St. Louis County.

Born July 15, 1935, in Fort Scott, Kan., he was the son of the late Frances L Readinger and S. Frank Hoskin.

Mr. Hoskin attended Fort Scott Schools and Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kan., graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in education and a Master’s Degree in industrial education. He taught in Kansas, Iowa and Missouri schools, and he was a professor of vocational education at Jefferson College for 27 years.

He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees from 1953-1956.

He was a member of the Missouri Vocational Association and the American Vocational Association, and he served on the Chrysler Arbitration Board.

He attended Hillsboro United Methodist Church. He enjoyed jokes and pulling pranks and will be remembered for his sense of humor, along with his strong faith and patience.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Patracia M. Erie Hoskin; a daughter: Terri Hoskin-Harvey of Hillsboro; a son: Robert Hoskin of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren: Matthew (Christine) Harvey, Natalie Harvey, Darick (Mary) Harvey, Hannah (Kyle) Wilson and Jenica Hoskin; five great-grandchildren: Payeton, Sofia, Maya, Emma and Holly; a brother: David (Sue) Hoskin; two sisters-in-law: Peggy Cowan and Edna Erie; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday (June 28) at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro.

A military honors ceremony and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (July 17) at Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kan.
Following the ceremony, a memorial luncheon will be held at the VFW Hall in Fort Scott.
Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro Food Pantry or a favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
