Date of passing 05/05/2023

Frank E. Wallace, 96, of Dallas, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Abington Manor, South Abington Twp., after a brief illness.

Born in Wilkes-Barre to the late Frank and Mary Wallace, Frank attended Meyers High School and honorably and proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy Seabee, enlisting in September of 1944 and serving until honorably discharged in May of 1946.

Frank was a longtime member of St. Therese’s Church, Shavertown, and was employed at the Sunday Independent newspaper as a typesetter for nearly 45 years until his retirement in December 1989. Frank was well known in the Back Mountain area as an avid supporter of Dallas High School sports, and he took immense pleasure in watching his children and grandchildren’s athletic endeavors. He and his late wife, Jane, were also passionate fans of their beloved Penn State Nittany Lions.

Frank was married for 67 years to the love of his life, Elizabeth “Jane” Lohman Wallace until her passing in 2017. He is survived by his sons, Donald Wallace (Mona Roen), McKinney, Texas; Robert Wallace (Debra Maslanko), Dallas; Thomas Wallace (Joyce), Hilton Head Island, S.C.; and daughters, Mary VerLee (David), Fairport, N.Y.; Barbara Avery (William), Stuart, Fla.; and Carol Kern (Richard Suarez-Murias), Hilton Head Island, S.C.; and his eight cherished grandchildren, Alex Wallace (Kymberlee), Scott Wallace (Starrie), Tyler Wallace (Felicia), Riley Wallace (Kaitlin), Ryan McAdam (Kaeley), Corey McAdam (Brooke), Madeline Kern and Braden Kern; nine very beloved great-grandchildren, Madison, Olivia, Bryson, Peyton, Caden, Henry, Grady, Brenna, and Kira; and numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sisters, Jean, Mary Ruth and Eileen; and numerous in-laws, including his much-adored mother-in-law, Hazel Lohman; and his dear daughter-in-law, Susan Wallace, Texas.

He will be dearly missed by many, but none more so than his family, who loved him and respected him greatly for his values, selflessness and dedication to his wife and his family.

The Wallace family wishes to acknowledge Abington Manor, Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the management and the entire care staff at the Village of Greenbriar, Dallas, for the compassionate and loving care provided to Frank during these last several months. Also, a very special and heartfelt thanks to our brother, Bob, for his ongoing care, concern, love and unwavering presence with our father.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Therese’s Church, 64 Davis St., Shavertown. The Rev. James J. Paisley will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home Inc., 140 N. Main St., Shavertown.
