Edward Joseph Hugo Obituary

Edward Joseph “Barry” Hugo of Brownfield, Maine, and formerly of Lawrence, passed away on Monday, December 16, at his home.

Barry was born on December 23, 1950, in Boston, Mass., to the late Victor and Mary (Scagel) Hugo. Barry lived in Lawrence for most of his life, graduating from Central Catholic High School, then going on to serve in the Navy in the “Seabees” Battalion during the Vietnam War. He later took ownership of his father’s business, Victor Hugo’s Bicycle Shop, in Lawrence, on Salem St., until he retired and moved permanently to Maine.

We will remember Barry’s love of skiing, camping, particularly at Hermit Island, gardening, and playing 45s; he was also incredibly proud of the accomplishments of his three children and loved his grandchildren dearly.

Barry is survived by his children, Barry and his wife Amy (Costa) of Norwood, Jeffrey and his former wife Heather Zindle of Needham, Addison and her partner Daniel Morgan of Boston; grandchildren, Connor and Tyler; as well as his two former wives, Paula (Pitocchelli) Hugo and Colleen (Regan) Hugo.

Barry’s immediate family will be hosting a Celebration of Life memorial later in the spring for friends and family.
