Donald Taylor, 93 of Hendersonville TN, passed away January 7, 2024.
Preceded in death by his wife of 70 years Mary Joan (Looker) Taylor.
Survived by Children, Diann (Edward) Rausch of Omaha, Nebraska, and Michael (Beverly) Taylor of Cottontown, TN. Grandchildren, Rebecca Rausch Miner, Jessica Rausch Dickson, Laura Rausch-Anderson, Ken Taylor, and Dan Taylor. Great-grandchildren, Grant Miner, Clayton Rausch, Taylor Anderson, Morgan Dickson, Ellie Taylor, and Liberty Taylor. Don Is also survived by many extended family and friends.
Don was born on November 3, 1930, in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.
He graduated from Worthington High School in Worthington, Ohio. Don was a Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War as a Submariner Machinist, a Military Policeman, and a Seabee. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Don worked for Jaeger Machine in Columbus, Ohio helping to develop some of the industry’s first portable concrete pumps before taking a sales position with Construction Forms (CF).
After the passing of Dick Henry, Don was promoted to vice president of sales and moved to Cedarbrook, Wisconsin. While at CF, he served as secretary on the ACPA Board of Directors, and in 1993 when the association found itself in need of a new executive director, Don took early retirement from CF and he along with his wife, Mary Jo, picked up the pieces and put the ACPA back on its feet. He continued as executive director before retiring for the second time in 2001 and moving to enjoy life in Florida.
Don never knew a stranger. His good nature, kind heart, and love for the concrete pumping industry were the perfect fit for building the ACPA membership and helping to educate and certify concrete pumpers all across the U.S.
Don was always active in his community as a member of American Legion, Charity Newsies (Columbus), Knights of Columbus (Fourth Degree), Silver Lakes Florida HOA Board, and Welcome Committee at Clarendale at Indian Lake. Don was a member of Community Church of Hendersonville serving on their greeting Committee. Don was a lifelong Ohio State Buckeye fan.
Visitation for Mr. Taylor will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Hendersonville Funeral Home (353 E. Main Street Hendersonville, Tennessee 37075). Funeral Service for Mr. Taylor will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 10:00 am at Community Church of Hendersonville (381 W.
