Donald Leo Bergeron Obituary
Donald Leo Bergeron, age 92, of Holyoke passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Soldier’s Home in Holyoke.
He was born and educated in Sanford, Maine, a son of the late Elphege and Laurenda (Proulx) Bergeron.
Don was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and came to Holyoke to attend Hamden School of Pharmacy. He worked as a Pharmaceutical Representative for many years.
Besides his parents, Don was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn (Golen) Bergeron in 2005. He is survived by his children, Donald E. Bergeron (Tami), Elizabeth B. Tripp (Steven), his granddaughters, Sarah Bergeron, Katelyn Bennett (Keith), Lauryn Conti (Paul), Brittany Tripp, Kristen Tripp, two great granddaughters, three great grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
Don was a founder of the Navy Seabees Veterans of America Island X-1 MA and received a Service Citation from the Soldiers’ Home in appreciation of his faithful and continued service in the interest of the hospitalized veterans. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and a life member of the Elks, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Navy Seabee Veterans of America.
To continue Don’s efforts to help Veterans, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home, Inc. PO Box 1338, Holyoke, MA 01041. All services will be announced at a future date. The Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home is coordinating the arrangements.
