Mr. Donald F. Nealon

Donald F. Nealon, 73, of Scranton, died Tuesday, July 16, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. He was the widower of the late Loretta “Laurie” Miller Nealon, who died Dec. 6, 2022. The couple was married 51 years.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Mary Frei Nealon, he was a graduate of South Catholic High School. He worked for many years at Schott Glass as a group leader of the Batch House, until his retirement in September of 2015. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus with the Knights of Columbus Council 6050 Joseph Barrett Assembly, a Chapel of Four Chaplains member, a Friendly Sons of St. Patrick member and a member of Waldorf Park. He served with the United States Navy in the Seabees and was aboard the USS Cadmus AR-14.

Surviving are two daughters, Dawn Marie Marchington and husband, Eric, Jefferson Twp.; and Shannon Perez and husband, Carlos, Scranton; brothers, Dennis Nealon; Paul Nealon and wife, Sally; Joseph Nealon and wife, Susan; a grandson, Eric Marchington Jr.; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Donald and Laurie will be held Saturday, Aug. 3, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Corey Brian Strauch Funeral Home, 602 Birch St., Scranton PA 18505, with Knights of Columbus services and military honors starting at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the GIST Cancer Research Fund, 3905 NE 167th St., North Miami Beach, FL 33160.
