Date of passing 09/07/2024

Donald “Don” Clarence Starr passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at the age of 86.
Don was born Sept. 27, 1938, to Cody and Eldora Starr in Glendive, Mont. They moved to the Huntley Project where he grew up with his younger sister Linda (Oblander) and attended Huntley Project High School in 1956. It was in high school where he met his adoring wife June (Stout).
After graduation, Don enlisted in the U.S. Navy Seabees, where he spent two years on Midway Island. Returning home, he married June and they moved to Bozeman, Mont.

He attended Montana State University where he earned his electrical engineering degree in 1962, and where he spent summers working as a lineman at Huntley Co-op.

After college Don and June moved to Minneapolis where he worked for Control Data. While in Minnesota they had two sons, Rick and Randy.
In 1970, Don decided he wanted to move the family back to Montana. Settling in Butte, he worked for the Montana Power Company until 1997, when he retired.

In 2012, Don and June moved to Clarkston, to be near family.
His time was spent outdoors; hunting, fishing, hiking, wood working, gardening and taking care of his well-kept yard. He enjoyed his evenings playing pinochle with his wife, sons and grandkids. They loved spending their weekend nights at the Moose and Eagles lodges.
Don loved every moment with his wife, sons, grandkids and extended family. He will always be remembered and missed.
Don is preceded in death by his sister Linda Oblander and daughter-in-law Kelly (Turnstrom) Starr. He is survived by his wife June; his two sons and their families: Rick and Hayley (Thomas), Randy (and Kelly, deceased) and their children: Katelynn (Kernin) and her husband Jeness, their daughter Brynlee; Jordan and his wife Catherine (Flerchinger), and Dustin Starr.
There will be a graveside service, with veterans salute, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Vineland Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life at 1 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 505 Maple St., Clarkston. Memorial donations can be made to the Veterans Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
