Final Salute

Dennis Robert Prestidge, 83, of Two Harbors passed away surrounded by family on April 10, 2022. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many and will be missed by all.

Dennis was born on June 23, 1938 to Donald and Viola Prestidge in Buffalo, Minnesota. He moved to Silver Bay, Minnesota at the age of 15. Dennis graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1956. He served active duty in the US Navy Seabees on the Aleutian Islands for two years before returning to Silver Bay, working at Reserve Mining Company until it closed in 1986. He also drove school bus for Lake Superior School District for 53 years.

He was a farmer at heart: accumulating tractors, various critters, and spending summers in the hay fields. Dennis dearly loved John Deere tractors as witnessed by the suspenders that he wore every day.

Dennis was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge in Two Harbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jan; and grandson, Danny. Dennis is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary; children Gigi (Clint) Maxwell, Jolie (Bill) Sislo, Mike (Ann) Prestidge, Jackie DeChantal, and Ronald (Brenda) Prestidge; step-children Mary Jo Sandretsky, Tammy (Billy) Smith, and Bunky Sandretsky; 27 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and siblings Donna Dorow, Jean Folkema, Ruth Koepke, Muriel Lyght, David Prestidge, Irene Johnson, and Carol (Marlin) Bakken.
