Dennis Michael Shinker, 65, of Deale, MD, passed away on November 19th, 2023. Born on February 6, 1958, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mike was a beloved husband, father, stepfather, brother, and cherished member of his extended family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dennis, affectionately known as Mike, had a colorful and adventurous life. Growing up on a horse farm in Manson, Iowa, he developed a love for horses and became a true cowboy at heart. His passion for the Rodeo Circuit brought him much excitement and joy. Mike was also a proud patriot who served in the US Navy as a combat-trained Seabee. During his military service, he earned several medals and commendations, showcasing his dedication and commitment to his country.
Apart from his military service, Mike had a deep affinity for big 4-wheel drive trucks and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He enjoyed the thrill of the open road and cherished the time spent with his riding buddies. His adventurous spirit and love for the open air were evident in his every journey.
Mike is survived by his wife of 42 year together, Hazel Shinker, and his daughter, Lisa Rose. He was also a beloved stepfather to Robin Magil, Connie Jett, Leon Kramer, Robert Kramer, and Joann Ripple. Additionally, Mike is survived by his brother, David Shinker, and his wife, Bobette, and sister, Windy Cerwick, and her husband, Randall. He leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to his life.
Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Shinker, and his father, Daryl Shinker from Manson, Iowa. And by his stepdaughter, Vickie Green of Deale, MD. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved them.
A ceremony to honor Mike’s life will be held at Hardesty Funeral Home in Galesville, MD, on Monday, November 27th, 2023. The viewing begins at 12pm and services are at 1 PM. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects to this remarkable individual who touched the lives of so many.
