Final Salute

Dennis L. Segur, age 75, a resident of The Villages, FL, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Denny was born August 23, 1947, in Elmira, NY, a son of the late Tracey L. and Lois E. Drysdale Segur. On April 6, 1968, he married the love of his life Risë Kay St. Clair who survives. Also surviving are one sister, Barbara A. Reger and husband Jack of The Villages; two brother-in-laws, William D. Moomau of Annapolis, MD and Jeff St. Clair and wife Kathy of Buckhannon, WV; one sister-in-law, Denise Straight and husband Steve of Buckhannon; four nephews, Doug Straight of El Dorado Hills, CA, Bert Leathermann of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Blake Moomau of Annapolis and Brian Hornbeck and wife Erin of Ashburn, VA; four nieces, Risë Hanifan and husband Shawn, Sarah St. Clair and boyfriend Evan Lantz, Kim Cabrera and husband Codi all of Buckhannon and Stephanie Chadwick and husband Greg of Matthews, NC; several great-nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Sassy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joan A. Moomau. Denny graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 1965. Upon graduation he graduated from Williamsport Area Community College, in the field of Architecture. He worked one year with Kodak and enlisted in the Navy, serving three years in the Naval Mobil Construction Battalion (MCB 40), Seabees. Denny completed his degree in Packaging Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology. He enjoyed his long career at Eastmank Kodak in Rochester, NY as a Package Engineer and Director of Logistics. While in Rochester, he was a Mason and a member of the Inspiration Lodge #109 AF & AM and an active member of Seneca United Methodist Church. Denny enjoyed working in his yard, on his car, going to NASCAR events with his friend and most of all watching his loved ones having fun. Upon retirement he moved to The Villages in Florida and became a member of New Covenant United Methodist Church. Friends will be received for a memorial service Thursday, May 18th at 1 PM at the New Covenant United Methodist Church in The Villages, FL. Friends will also be received for a memorial gathering and service in Buckhannon, WV Saturday, August 26, 12 PM (noon) to 1 PM at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home at 1 PM with Risë Hanifan officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. The Upshur County Honor Guard will perform military honors and the Franklin Lodge #7 AF & AM will provide masonic rites at the graveside. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Denny’s memory to New Covenant United Methodist Church, 3470 Woodridge Drive, The Villages, FL 32162 or Cornerstone Hospice and Pallative Care, 601 Mariposa Way, The Villages, FL 32162.
