Dennis Gordon Wilson, 78, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 at The Retreat in Fishersville.
Dennis was born in Mineola, New York to John Thomas Wilson and Irene Marie (Cox) Wilson on September 12th, 1945. He married Barbara Daher on April 13th, 1969 in West Babylon, NY. He worked as a Civil Engineer for the New York State Department of Transportation for 38 years. Dennis was a Vietnam veteran and served in the Navy as a SeaBee. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and attended Mass consistently and served as an usher until his health began to fail. Dennis was passionately interested in history and genealogy, and in his younger days loved to fish, boat and travel. He was incredibly handy around the house and had a great head for problem solving. He also enjoyed collecting military memorabilia and medals.
In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his older brother, Jay Wilson and his sister, Judy Yannett.
Dennis is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Daher) Wilson; his daughters, Wendy Lyn Arminio with husband Ted of Alexandria and Michelle Eileen Wilson, also of Alexandria. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Bobby Wilson with wife Max; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great nephews; as well as his lifelong friend, Peter Thompson. Also, Dennis is survived by his favorite K9 sidekick, Julia.
A funeral mass will be conducted at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in April at a date and time yet to be confirmed.
