Dennis E. Jacoby, 78, of Port Washington passed away on Friday March 28, 2025. He served with the United States Navy Seabees during Vietnam. After serving his country he enjoyed playing softball and could be found on a baseball field almost every night of the week. He enjoyed playing the sport and the camaraderie that came along with it. He later traded in his softball glove for a pool stick and enjoyed spending time shooting pool on various leagues around the area.
Dennis spent 31 years working 3rd shift for Leggett & Platt in Grafton. After his retirement he kept busy volunteering for many hours at Possibility Playground in Port Washington. He loved making sure the area was clean and safe for all that came to play. His hard work was noticed by many in the Port Washington community earning him Volunteer of the Year.
Those close to Dennis knew that he enjoyed being outside putzing in his yard. He would spend many hours “feeding” and then cutting his luscious lawn. If he wasn’t cutting his lawn, he could be found in the garage cutting some wood pieces to make a wood craft of some sort. Some items he sold, but many he created to give to his friends or loved ones to enjoy.
Dennis was part of “Mission 71” with the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight in October 2023 as recognition for the time he served in Vietnam.
He loved his family more than anything, but especially his grandchildren as they always brought a smile to his face. He was proud of all their achievements whether it be in school or sports and praised them on their accomplishments whether they were big or small.
Dennis is survived by his wife Jeanne and his children, Tracy (Tim) Herman of Kewaskum, Trent (Kristin) Jacoby of Cedarburg, Kayla Jacoby of West Bend and stepdaughter Julie Leenders of Arlington, Texas. His grandchildren, Tierney & Teagan Herman, Marissa & Ivan Jacoby, Sophie Jacoby and Marielle & Knox Leenders. He is preceded in death by his brother Junior and son-in-law Hardy Leenders.
At Dennis’ request there will be no funeral. He asked that we all rejoice in his life and our time together and not mourn his death.
