With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Samuel Austin, 57, in his home in Chesapeake, VA, on July 9, 2025. David was born December 12, 1967, in Galax, VA, to Shirley Jean (Sigmon) and Reverend Samuel David Austin. He graduated from Green Run High School and promptly enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. In the Marines, he was trained as an electrician, traveled to Europe, Japan, Australia, and served during Operation Desert Storm. He concluded his service as a Navy Reservist with the U.S. Naval Construction Battalions (Navy Seabees). Following his military service, he became a civilian Master Electrician, serving the Hampton Roads community. David loved being an Uncle and had a contagious laugh for every occasion. He loved his family, his dogs, movies, gardening, and his favorite holiday, Halloween. He had a big heart and was a great caregiver to his mother for many years before her passing, last year. Having David as a Brother and an Uncle was the greatest of special gifts in life; he is mourned by everyone that was a part of his life. We love you and we miss you, David.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal sanctuary or shelter, in memoriam for his love of dogs.
