Chandler – David J. Herr, 76, of Chandler, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at his home. He was born July 28, 1944, in Evansville, to the late Eugene and Marian (Galey) Herr.

He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee. David was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #136 and worked as a plumber, pipefitter, and welder. He was a member of the VFW Wadesville #6576, Owls, Campbell Township Conservation Club, and the American Legion #144 in Newburgh. David was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Daylight. He loved spending time with his family and friends. David was an avid bass fisherman.

David is survived by his sons, Michael (Rachel Meeks) Herr, of Boonville, and Kelly (Heather) Herr, of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Cameron, Opal, Heaven, Miracle, and Blaise; brother, Roger Herr; brother-in-law, Gilbert Adler; sister-in-law, Betty Herr; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Elvera Herr; brother, Leonard “Andy” Herr; and sisters-in-law, Debbra Herr and Rosie Adler.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2021 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 N. Stockwell Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Zach Etienne officiating.

Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum where the retired Veteran’s Memorial Club will conduct graveside services.
