Pittsfield, NH – Mr. David A. Maynard, 71, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after a short battle with mesothelioma.
Born in Springfield, MA, Dave was the son of the late Albert and Lilia (O’Keefe) Maynard. He was raised and educated in Springfield but spent most of his life in New Hampshire, which he considered his home.
Dave enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country from 1971-1975. He was a Navy Seabee, serving aboard the USS Purdy.
Following his military service, Dave held various jobs in the non-destructive testing industry. He previously worked for Ruger Firearms/Unicast, Test Equipment Distributors, Nu-Cast and Hitchiner Manufacturing. He most recently was the owner and operator of MaynTec, LLC.
Dave had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. He was well known for his love of cooking. In earlier years, he refereed and coached soccer and basketball. He cherished the time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed winters in Florida, camping with his children and special trips with his grandsons Drew and Miles. He had a great love for animals and rescued many pets through the years and leaves behind two special pets Gracie and Lucky.
Dave was predeceased by his siblings: Carol Durocher, Sandra Dorval, Mark Maynard and Richard Maynard.
He is survived by his ravishing wife of 33 years, Donna M. (DuPlessis) Maynard; his children: Christina Qualls and her husband Shawn, Rebecca Maynard, Joshua Maynard and Krystal Jordan; his grandchildren: Marissa, Mikayla, Berlin, Drew and Miles. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, nieces and nephews as well as his mother-in-law, Ellie Morello, his brother-in-law, Alan DuPlessis and his sister-in-law, Anne DuPlessis.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26th from 4 to 5:30 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke followed by a Prayer Service at 5:30 P.M. A Celebration of His Life will follow immediately with details announced at the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory may be sent to the Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Rd.
