Darrel A. Davis, 74, of Greensburg, passed away suddenly early Saturday morning, Oct. 30, 2021, in Excela Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Sept. 23, 1947, in McKeesport, son of the late Duane T. Davis Sr. and Dorothy C. (Dontrich) Davis. Darrel attended Grand View Church of God, Smithton. He grew up in North Huntingdon, graduated from Norwin High School and went on to graduate from Robert Morris Junior College with an associate’s in arts degree and California University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of arts degree. Darrel was a proud Veteran of the Navy, MCB 71 “Seabees” Naval Construction Battalion and served for one tour of duty in Vietnam, joining the Naval Reserve upon discharge. Darrel was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Insigna with three Bronze Stars, the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon and attained the Rank of E-3. He was employed by U.S. Steel Irvin Works as a machinist and expediter for 47 and a half years, and was a member of the Steel Workers Union No. 2227, District 10. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being a member of Hannastown Golf Club as well as the Syria Shrine Golf Club. Darrel was a past master of Omni Lodge No. 582 Free & Accepted Masons, and a member of Scottish Rite 32nd degree; East Hills Royal Arch Chapter No. 268; Liberty Valley Council No. 50 of Royal & Select Master Masons; Syria Shrine Temple; past patron of William E. Gelston Chapter No. 435, Order of the Eastern Star; Amaranth Court No. 25; along with serving as past bethel guardian bethel No. 3 International Order of Job’s Daughters. He was currently serving as commander P.C. Duquesne Commandery No. 72, Knights Templar. He is survived by his loving wife and “best friend forever” of 48 years, Kathy D. (Lynn) Davis; daughter, Kaitlin M. Davis; brother, Duane T. Davis Jr. and wife, Betsy Davis; a niece; a nephew; and great-nephews. Darrel was a man of God and enjoyed Bible study with his brother, Duane. Family and friends are cordially invited from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 2 and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, to FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, PA 15683. A Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday by Omni Lodge No. 582, followed by an Eastern Star Service by William E. Gelston Chapter No. 435, and Knights Templar Service by Duquesne Commandery No. 72. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at which time the funeral service will begin with Pastor Adam Huff officiating, Grandview Church of God, Smithton. Interment will follow at Westmoreland County Memorial Park, 150 Eastside Drive (Route 136), Greensburg, PA 15601. Full military honors will be held at the chapel in Memorial Park by Mt.
