BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Bakersfield man who lived to be 103-years-old and served in the United States Navy during World War II has died.
Honor Flight Kern County took to social media that Dale Cheeseman, 103, served one and a half years in the Seabee Amphibious Construction Battalion 2 while in the Admiralty Islands north of New Guinea.
Cheeseman served on a fleet repair ship and repaired the USS Iowa.
When he was 92 he attended Honor Flight #10 in 2014, according to Honor Flight.
Memorial services are scheduled for September.
