Clarence “Curley” Karl, age 94 of Freeport passed away at Manor Court on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was born on May 21, 1928 in Oak Park, IL to Clarence and Ruth (Johnson) Karl. He was a 1946 graduate with honors of Freeport High School. Curley married Sharon Yeager on June 7, 1958, in Dubuque, Iowa. He went on to serve as a Seabee in the United State Navy during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955. After his military service he joined the family business Clarence Karl and Sons Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning Contractors. He later branched off on his own with an emphasis on commercial heating and air conditioning system. Curley retired after 57 years of business to spend more time with his wife and family and of course his beloved Mississippi River.
Curley is survived by his 2 daughters- Vicki (Bill) Kerchner of Port Charlotte, FL and Lesa (David) Hill of Freeport, IL; grandchildren- Tim (Jenna Sargent) Randecker of Lena, Tiffany (Aaron) England of Lena, Ben Randecker of Rockford, Victoria (Tom) Maloney of Oak Creek, WI; 6 great-grandchildren- Ava, Deaken, Rhianna, Brennan, Josiah and Aria; sister- Marilyn Lawrence of Middleton WI; sister-in-law- Carol Karl of Monroe WI; brother-in-law- Gary (Donna) Yeager of Freeport and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon; two brothers- Clifford Karl and Charles Karl and a nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the Leamon Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. at Leamon Funeral Home.
Officiating will be Pastor Jason Pankonin.
Luncheon will follow the service at the Cedarville Baptist Church.
Interment will take place after the luncheon at Chapel Hill in Freeport, IL
