Charles R. Bobb, 86, of Hideaway Trail, Beavertown, passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Oct. 1, 1934, in Prospectville, the youngest child of nine, of the late George K. and May M. (Reichenbach) Bobb. On Oct. 27, 1956, he married Mary F. (Gross) Bobb who survives.
Charlie was a 1952 graduate of Schwenksville High school.
He served in the Navy (Seabees) from 1956-1959 stationed in Bermuda.
Charlie’s initial employment was with Allan Myers (1952 to 1956). He then went to work for his brother Frank who was part owner of HERCO (Heavy Equipment Rebuilding Company) (1959-1972). The move to Snyder County from Montgomery County in 1972 led him to work for George Starr as a carpenter and home builder, after which he worked for Blough-Wagner Mfg. in Middleburg until his retirement.
In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, farming, gardening and was very active with both the conception and operations of the Middlecreek Area Community Center (MACC) in Beaver Springs. He served on the Midd-West School Board from 1981-1985 and 2002-2003.
He was an avid reader of Prevention Magazine and authors like Euell Gibbons, and was an advocate of healthy living to which his children can attest.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are 12 children and their spouses; 39 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several foster children. The preponderance of his life’s work was directed to his family and community.
Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown.
Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown.
The family requests contributions in his memory be made to the MACC, 67 Elm St., Beaver Springs, PA 17812.
