Mr. Charles Levon Minter

Date of passing 05/24/2023

On May 24, 2023, Charles Levon Minter passed away peacefully at Heritage Hospice of Marietta. Known as Mr. C to the public, C.L. to his wife, sons, grandsons, family, and friends, Daddy to his daughter, Papa to his granddaughters, Papa C. to his great-grandchildren, and Uncle to many nieces and nephews, C.L. lived for 91 years. He was a brilliant “fixer/builder” of all things structurally and electrical. His extensive career began as a Navy Seabee, whose motto is “Can Do” and their phrase “With willing hearts and skillful hands, the difficult we do at once, the impossible takes a bit longer” completely defines him.
It is impossible to explain how many people he has helped build and repair their homes and churches, helped with property development, or just provided home inspections. After his third heart attack, message after message arrived from all over the Southeast, talking about times he had driven, sometimes a few hundred miles, to donate his time and skill to repair storm damage, build a garage, or rewire homes and churches. No one would describe C.L. as an easy man, but few can talk about him without a smile on their face and a story about how he helped them out. Even now, more of his family than not can say “He built my house”, “He built my house, too”, “He built my addition”, and “He built my garage”. He IS the GOAT!
C.L. was a business owner of Minter Electric in Marietta and Woodstock from 1962 to the early 80s when he “retired” and began building and remodeling for another 35 years. Mr. C. was generous with his opinions, advice (wanted or not), skill, talent, heart, and love.
Nothing on earth was more important to him than family. He and Margaret were the glue that held the large Minter Clan together for decades. They hosted the family reunion on Thanksgiving every year until the pandemic and aging family elders simply couldn’t do it anymore. He loved the family deeply and generously through his many skills and talents. C.L was preceded in death by his mother and father, his son Mike, four brothers, and one sister. C.L. is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Margaret (Keheley), two children: Dennis, and Mechell, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
