Longtime Elizabeth resident, union tile layer for 50 years
Charles F. “Popeye” Olivieri, 92, formerly of Elizabeth, N.J., passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 2, 2019.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral from the Petruccelli Funeral Home, 232 Christine St., Elizabeth, on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 9 a.m. thence to St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Elizabeth, where at 10:30 a.m. a Funeral Mass will be offered. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, N.J. Visitation is Wednesday, July 10, 2019, from 4 to 8 p.m.
Mr. Olivieri was born in Elizabeth where he resided for 91 years until moving to New Hampshire in 2017. He was a tile layer for B.A.C. Local Union No. 7 of New York and New Jersey for 50 years retiring in 1992. He was a life member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers. Mr. Olivieri was also a former usher at St. Anthony of Padua Church. He was a member of the former Kingston Athletic Club, the Retired Men and Ladies Club of Peterstown and WWII USNR Veteran of the 96th Naval Construction Battalion “SeaBees”.
He was predeceased by his wife, Sophie (Dombrowski) Olivieri.
He is survived by his son, Frank Olivieri, daughter, Cynthia Colletti, sister, Rosalie Tinnirella, brother, Anthony Olivieri, his grandchildren: Robert Colletti, Josephine Nowicki, Steven Colletti, Sophia Renee Williams, Charles Olivieri and great-granddaughter, Olivia Williams.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and the Fisher House Foundation, Inc.
