Chuck Bosma, of Dallas, Texas, and formerly of Cumberland, Rhode Island, passed away on August 22, 2020.
He passed at the age of 90 years. He was born on April 12, 1930, in Harbor Springs Michigan to Jacob and Syliva. He grew up on their farm in upper Michigan.
After graduating from High School he enlisted in the Navy. He proudly served in the “Seabees” where he learned the skills he would use his entire life. While stationed at “Quonset Point” North Kingston RI, he met a beautiful nurse Claire Garlick from Pawtucket. As the story goes, they got married and started a family. They had 4 kids Chuck Jr., Mike, Sue, and Tom.
They lived in Cumberland RI for over 20 years. During this time Chuck started his own business “Bosma Cabinet Co.” and later transitioned to Union Master Carpenter with RI Carpenter Union. He was known as a “no-nonsense guy” and hard working. Chuck enjoyed traveling with Claire and with the family.
After some time, he grew spiritually and converted to Catholicism. After retiring he moved to Sunny Florida with Claire. They loved the weather and played a little golf most days! When Claire got ill, they both moved to Dallas TX a street over from their son Mike for support.
Chuck passed on August 22, 2020, five years after Claire passed.
Chuck is survived by his four children: Chuck Jr.& Mary Bosma, Mike & Laura Bosma, Sue & Dave Rollins, Tom Bosma & fiance Tracy Warren, along with eight grandchildren.
A Committal Service & Military Honors will be held at 11 am on Saturday, June 5th at Mt. St. Mary’s Cemetery, 661 Prospect St. Pawtucket, RI 02860.
