Carl E. Peterson, 96, of Danvers, died late Tuesday evening, July 26, 2022 at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield. He was the loving husband of the late Margaret I. (Fitzgerald) Peterson, with whom he shared sixty-eight years of marriage.
Born in Peabody on Nov. 1, 1925, he was the son of the late Joel and Myrtle (Nickerson) Peterson. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School and the Burdett School of Business.
Carl served honorably with the Seabees in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was recalled to serve again during the Korean War.
Carl was employed by the Town of Danvers as an administrator at the former Hunt Memorial Hospital.
An active parishioner of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, he served the church as a lector, eucharistic minister, in the Mr. & Mrs. Club, and with Marriage Encounter.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Thomas E. Power Council #1505 and the Danvers Kiwanis Club for many years. He enjoyed reading and gardening.
He leaves three daughters, Carla Lee and her husband Rob of Danvers, Deborah Makros and her husband Christopher of Orange Park, FL, and Beth Hicks and her husband Harry of West Lebanon, NY, his grandchildren, Kristopher Markros, Seth Durling and his girlfriend Francine, Tristan Durling and his fiancée Michelle, Julie Durling and her fiancé Patrick, Bryan Lee and his wife Kristy, and Matthew Lee, and three great-grandchildren, Eric, Ethan, and Kelsey.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Eric Makros.
Carl’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 1, 2022 at 10:30AM in Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
